About Spiral

I made Spiral / orange oblate just ahead of my first solo show, curated here in Bristol by the Steps Gallery, who at that time had a great small space on Christmas Steps. The exhibition was at the City Inn, maybe halfway between Temple Meads and Bristol Bridge.

The spiral remains something that seems to capture people's attention and has done for millennia no doubt. From a snail's shell to the way water moves down a plug hole, and interstellar images of our galaxy taken in deep space, there's something really engaging, and often also a little psychedelic, about the geometry of a spiral. It's an irresistible form for study.
