About Concentric

Concentric 1 is part of a series of works experimenting with the idea of focus within a given series of rings, hovering above and below the picture plane, and how that image can be cropped as part of the image making process.

In a sense therefore it's an exploration and extrapolation surrounding ideas about depth of field, and mimicking photographic techniques on a digital system.

There’s a huge amount to enjoy and learn from proponents of colour field and minimalist art, especially stellar C20th American artists who have been working with colour and form over the past sixty or more years with striking results, Kenneth Noland and Ellsworth Kelly spring to mind as particularly inspirational voices in the field.
